Adolph "Jake" Beyer, 51, of 100 North 32nd Street, former operator of the National Hotel, died at st. Elizabeth's Hospital at 9 o'clock this morning from heart disease following an extended illness.

Mr. Beyer was associated with his father, Adolph Beyer, and his mother, the former Emelia [Emilia] Leiner, in operation of the business. Following the death of his parents, he ran the hotel and tavern for three years and then sold the business to Frank T. Kern, now chief deputy sheriff, and Adam Flach. Later Kern and Flach sold their interest to Phil Wolf, the present operator.

In recent years, Mr. Beyer has been employed in the office at the Griesedick-Western Brewery. He was born in Belleville April, 18, 1893. His father was born in Carlinville and his mother in Belleville.

He married Adele Buehlhorn at Edwardsville November 2, 1910. Besides his widow, he is survived by a daughter;

... two grandchildren and a sister;

Helen, wife of Joseph C. Mueller, Garden Blvd painting contractor.

Funeral services at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 1, from the Zion Lutheran Church to Walnut Hill Cemetery. Rev. C. Thomas Spitz, pastor, will officiate.
