Evelyn, also known as Gram to many who loved her, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 13, 2015.

She was born June 23, 1920 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Thomas A. and Hattie E. Martin.

She married Albert Jessie Shaeffer on March 27, 1938 and they later moved to Salt Lake City with their young son, Michael.

Evelyn was a member of the LDS Church and retired as a bookkeeper from Beehive Clothing Mills in 1982.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Lois), with whom she lived in Taylorsville for the past five years; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, and a great-granddaughter.

The family expresses much gratitude to all the wonderful staff and caregivers of Envision Home Health and Hospice, Legacy Village Memory Care, and Select Home Care for their loving care and concern.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 12:00 p.m., where friends may visit, at Valley View Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City.
