JoDean Cowan, age 77, of Salt Lake City, died in her sleep of natural causes incident to age on July 1, 2015.

She was born May 29, 1938 in Salt Lake City to Louis James Cowan and Alice Clarise Rasmussen Cowan. She graduated from East High School in 1956.

Always ambitious, JoDean worked hard her whole life, from washing dishes in her youth, to a secretarial position at Axelrod Furniture, and a thirty-six-year career with the Utah Liquor Commission.

An adventurous spirit, in her youth she loved golf, swimming at Liberty Park, and the operatic performances of her brother, Jim. In later years, she was passionate about watching basketball and enjoyed the company of extended family, especially her nieces and nephews, and her sisters. She also loved the company of many friends, including some from her youth, her working years, and many friends from Phillips Plaza, where she lived close by her sister, Barbara, for several years before her passing.

She is survived by her sisters, Gayle Clark (Gardnerville, Nevada) and Barbara Brumley (Salt Lake City), and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jim; and sisters, Bettylu Grow, Claire Irvine, and Lois Brunyer.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ninth Ward of Liberty Stake, 270 East 500 South, Salt Lake City, with a viewing prior from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Interment: West Jordan City Cemetery.
