Louis James Cowan Jr., 77, passed away on July 13, 2009 at Avalon Care Center in Bountiful, UT.


Born July 4, 1932 in Salt Lake City, UT to L.J. and Alice Rasmussen Cowan.


Married Mary Stauffer on August 29, 1996. Jim retired from Kennecott Copper, where he was employed for 35 years.


Served in the US Army in Alaska during the Korean War. He will be remembered for his beautiful operatic tenor voice, his kind heartedness, and generous nature.


Survived by his wife, Mary; step-daughter, Debi; siblings: Gayle Clark, JoDean Cowan, and Barbara Brumley; also numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Capitol Hill Ward Chapel, 413 North West Capitol Street. Friends may call on Friday evening at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, from 6-8 p.m. and from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services on Saturday.
Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery.
