Hays -- Elmer Joseph Rupp, 71, Hays, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 1995, at Hays Medical Center. Mr. Rupp was born May 19, 1924, near Hyacinth and was a lifelong resident of rural Hays.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a Latin vocalist for funerals and German weddings. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Hyacinth, until it closed. He then was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hays. He was a life member of Hays American Legion, where he conducted military parades and funerals. He was a past post sergeant of arms, post chaplain and twice elected post commander.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara J. Rupp of rural Hays; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hays, the Rev. Mike Scully officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays, with military rites by the Hays American Legion. A vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. today at Brock's North Hill Chapel, Hays.

Memorials may be made to the church. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 2509 Vine, Hays 67601.
