Vaclav Karsky was born April 27, 1832 in Vidlata near Litomysl, Bohemia, Austria (now Czech Republic), the son of Jan Karsky and Anna Saldova Karsky, and died June 9, 1896, near Cainsville, Harrison County, Missouri.
He married in Dolni Ujezd, Bohemia, Austria, May 22, 1854, to Anna Abraham, widow of John Lisa, daughter of John Abraham and Christina Hanns Abraham. To the union of James and Anna six children were born: Anna, Vaclav (James), Frantisek (Frank), Jozef (Joseph), Karel (Charles), and Marie. With Anna's son, John Lisa, Jr., they reared seven children all born in Dolni Ujezd, Bohemia.
James and Anna brought their family (except for John Lisa Jr., who was married and came later) to America in 1881. They sailed on the ship, Sveria, in May of the year from Hamburg, Germany and docked in New York City in June. They arrived in Princeton, Mercer County, Missouri, in time to celebrate Independence Day 188l. They soon located on a farm southwest of Cainsville in the Banner neighborhood in Harrison County. They moved to Diagonal, Ringgold Co., Iowa in 1887. In 1888, they moved back to Harrison County, Missouri, and eventually purchased a farm in the Linn neighborhood just north of Banner neighborhood, where they lived until death.
