They had no children.
In the 1870s they lived in Lowell, MA, where Dexter had entered into the first bed-spring manufacture business in the country in Boston, MA. By 1880 they had returned to Lancaster where they remained until their deaths.
In Feb 1902 Persis obtained a passport in Boston for the purpose of going overseas. It stated she would return within two years. She died the following May in Lancaster and it is unknown if she got to make that trip.
