Sidney Stanton Hopkins was the son of John Otey Hopkins and Elvira America Burke. He was named for Sidney Stanton, his father's commanding officer in the Civil War. His first wife was Eva Murrell, whom he married in 1891 in Royce City, TX. She died in 1924 in Oklahoma City. They had four children: Kitty, Otie Murrell "Bud", Bessie and Jesse "Frank", all born in TX. He married his 2nd wife, Anna Mary Grewell Sly in 1934 in Oklahoma City.
