Julia were among the 123 victims of the Cleveland Clinic fire on May 15, 1929. X-ray film in the basement was ignited by an exposed light bulb that was close to the film. The burning film produced poisonous gases and caused two explosions.

The fire claimed 123 lives including that of one of the Clinic's founders, Dr. John Phillips. Most of the deaths from the fire were due to toxic inhalation.

Policeman Ernest Staab, who was recorded as saving 21 lives during the tragedy that killed 123 people at the Cleveland Clinic.
