OBITUARY.

Died, in Somerville, on the evening of the 19th April, JAMES, oldest son of James B. and Roena Herron, aged twenty-one years and six months.

James was a private in Captain John's company, Tennessee Volunteers, was at the battle of Shiloh, where he received his fatal wound. He lived twelve days and suffered much. He leaves a large family of relatives and many friends to mourn his untimely death, but such was his faith and deportment, that they enjoy the consolation that he yet lives.

Listed in Fayette County, Tennessee, in the 1860 federal census are James Herron, 52, born Tennessee, farmer, $5,000 value of real estate, $16,005 personal estate; Rowen Herron, 45, b NC; Fanny, 21, b TN; James, 18, b TN; Harrison, 16; Susan, 13; W H, 10; T, 7; Martha, 4; and Johnny Herron, 8 months. Listed next is Eliza Heron, 54, b NC.

The Death Certificate for his brother Dr. John Thomas Herron (1859–1945) gives their parents' names as Rowena Broom, born Center Point, Tennessee, and James B Herron, born Galloway, Tennessee. Dr John T Herron is buried in Hollywood Cemetery, Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee (Memorial # 25650587). Brother Harrison Herron (1843–1912) also is buried in this cemetery (Memorial # 16547312).
