OTTUMWA - Carroll L. Parr, 87, of 23 Asbury Circle, died at 12:15 a.m. March 31, 2011, at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa. He was born April 23, 1923, in Rose Hill to Charles and Opal Hollingsworth Parr. He married Barbara Jean McCullough Oct. 25, 1952. They later divorced. He married Jackie Bagley Bukowski on April 2, 1973, in Elk Point, S.D. A resident of Ottumwa most of
his life, he had worked at Barker's Poultry until it closed and then worked at Everco, retiring in 1988. He farmed for the Larkins and also worked at Nickerson Brothers Garage. He and his wife, Jackie, were janitors at Wesley United Methodist Church for seven years. He had worked for Al Martin Real Estate & Auction, which he enjoyed extremely. Surviving are his wife, Jackie; four daughters, Teresa Martin of Tulsa, Okla., Joy (Mike) Orona of Ottumwa, Kathy (Mark) Vander Meiden of Oskaloosa and Diana (Stan) Swartz of Ottumwa; two sons, David (Judy) Parr of Kaufman, Texas, and Daniel Parr of Ottumwa; two stepsons, Mike (Diane) Bukowski of Texas and Jim (Marcelin) Bukowski of Ottumwa; four stepdaughters, Karen Bukowski, Cindy Leedom, and Michelle (Scott) Chapman, all of Ottumwa, and Renaie Parr of Cedar Rapids; 28 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Erma Jean (Barney) Conder of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Parr, and a brother, Lauren "Speedy" Parr. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Carol Immatteo-Code officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today with the family present from 5-7 p.m. today.
