(1919 - 2015)

Loraine B. Grainger, age 95, formerly of Torrison Drive, Manitowoc, was called home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to her heavenly home from Shady Lane Nursing Care Center on Wednesday afternoon, July 15, 2015 with her loving family at her side.

The former Loraine Pilger was born December 28, 1919 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Edward G. and Lillian A. (Strande) Pilger. She attended schools in Manitowoc graduating with the class of 1937 at Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On December 20, 1939 she married Kurth R. Grainger at First Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2003. Loraine was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church, past member of the church choir, altar guild, church women and church circle. She is a lifetime member and past officer of ISMA Green Bay Lodge #18 Ladies Auxiliary. She is a member of the Manitowoc Yacht Club Auxiliary. She was a past member and past officer of the Manitowoc Elk's Ladies. She enjoyed taking trips on the Great Lakes Freighters with her husband when he sailed on the freighters. She loved baking, knitting, listening to music and being with her family.

Loraine is survived by her son: Kurth E. Grainger and special friend: Judy Wilber, Oshkosh; one daughter and son-in-law: Bonnie (Roger) Hansen, Manitowoc; one daughter-in-law: LueAnn Grainger, Green Bay; 13 grandchildren; 26 Great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, 2 cousins and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Lillian Pilger; her husband: Capt. Kurth R. Grainger; 1 son: Ray T. Grainger; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Otis (Lillian) Grainger; 1 granddaughter: Karmen Kennedy; 1 great granddaughter: Jennifer Kennedy; 1 brother and sister-in-law: Myron E. (Harriett) Pilger; 2 brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law: O. Sherman (Sophia) Grainger; Carter (Betty) Davidson; 1 nephew; 1 niece.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2015 at First Lutheran Chapel, 521 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Roald Harswick will officiate with entombment on Monday at the Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
