He was a retired farmer and was a resident of Garden City since 1935, moving from Ness City. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Garden City, and the 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Garden City.
Survivors: wife, Rosie; sons, LeRoy, Larry, both of Garden City, Robert, Johnny, both of Holcomb, Alan of Goodland; daughters, Juanita Walck, Arlene Rowley, both of Garden City, Ruth Jackson of Las Vegas, Nev.; mother, Kathryn Rupp of Garden City; brothers, Mike, Paul, Adam, all of Garden City, Frank of Deerfield; sisters, Kathryn Zimmerman, Mary Eggers, both of Ness City, Pauline Kaiser, Elvira Billinger, both of Garden City, Julia Stoecklein of Hutchinson; 31 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Garden City, Father Alan Hartway. Vesper service will be at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and the Knights of Columbus rosary will follow at the church. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery, Garden City. Friends may call until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.
Memorial has been established with St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
