Herman Frederick Landgraf's ashes are buried in his daughter Frieda's grave plot. Herman was born in Grimichev, Crimmitshau, Saxony, Germany and was named after his father.

Herman came to America from Germany in 1891. On 15 June 1893 he started the naturalization process and became a US citizen on 14 Oct 1902.

Herman's 1st wife was Henrietta Mehnert whom he married in about 1878 in Germany. Herman & Henrietta had 3 children, (Hedwig, Frieda & Herman), in Germany before coming to America.

Henrietta died in 1895 and two years later Herman married the widow Clara Mueller Ketz. Clara already had 2 children.

After they married Herman & Clara had a son Walter.

Herman who was Lutheran worked as a machinist in many of Detroit's factories.

For the 30 years after coming to America, Herman remained living on the east side of Detroit in several homes within a 3/4 mile radius of Van Dyke & present day I-94.
