Friday morning at the Baptist hospital Edward Cornelius Dupre, 48, died after an illness of several months. Interment in Elmwood cemetery. Mr. DuPre was the owner of the DuPre Printing company of this city, and had been conducting it for 25 years. When a small boy he came to Columbia with his father, the late B. C. DuPre, who was a native of Abbeville county, but who came here from Washington where he had been employed in the government printing office. At the time of his death B. C. DuPre was the auditor of Richland county, and was a man highly esteemed here and wherever he was known. Edward Cornelius DuPre was a man of sterling character, and was modest and retiring. Through his activities in Masonic circles he had made many friends throughout the state who were devoted to him. He was a past-master of Richland Lodge, No. 39, A.F.M., a member of Columbia commandery and of Hejaz temple of the Shrine. He is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Helen Miller of Abbeville; three sons, Edward C., Jr., John C. and Moffatt DuPre; two daughters, Misses Helen and Margaret DuPre; one sister, Mrs. Thomas R. Watts, and two brothers, Ernest M. DuPre and Moffatt M. DuPre, all of Columbia. The State, Saturday, March 26, 1932.
