Edwards C. DuPre Dies; Funeral Today, 5:30 P. M.

Funeral services for Edward Cornelius DuPre, Jr., 42, were to be conducted today at 5:30 p. m. at the McCormick Funeral home by the Rev. E. S. Jones and the Rev. John Madison Younginer. Burial was to be in the Elmwood cemetery. Mr. DuPre died yesterday at his residence.

Mr. DuPre, the son of Mrs. Helen Miller DuPre and the late Edward Cornelius DuPre, Sr., of Columbia, was born here March 29, 1907. He attended the city schools of Columbia and was graduated from Clemson college with a degree in civil engineering. Mr. DuPre was married to the former Miss Cathryn Weissinger, the daughter of Mrs. Louise Wilson Weissinger and the late Eugene H. Weissinger of Blackville.

For several years Mr DuPre was a civil engineer with the state highway department and later with the United States government at Parris Island. He owned and operated the DuPre Printing company in Columbia from 1943 until 1947 when ill health forced his retirement. He was a member of the Wesley Memoral Methodist church and was a Mason. He is survived by his widow, his mother, two sisters, Mrs. George Bell Timmerman, Jr., of Batesburg, and Miss Margaret Elizabeth DuPre of Columbia, and two brothers, John Clarke DuPre and Moffatt Barmore ("Buck") DuPre of Columbia.

Active pallbearers mere to be L. E. Reckling, Jr., Charles H. Barron, Joe Land, Claude Crowson, D. O. Starr and Charles H. Duke. Honorary pallbearers were to be: Richard Lane, W. P. Crosland, Hardeman Spain, Jack Melton, F. H. Turner, Harold Shull, Wilbur G. Shull, Herbert Barrineau, Sidney Blackburn, H. P. Griffith, F. B. Ruff, Thomas D. Hopkins, Johnnie Sandifer, Dr. W. E. Berne, Marshall T. Durham, Dr. Charles Lemmon, Dr. Izard Josey, W. D. Gaines and Robert W. Thomas.
