He was the son of the late Harry J. and Mary A. (Wilt) Slagle.
Mr. Slagle was retired from P.H. Glatfelter in Spring Grove after 26 years of service, and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army, in which he received the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a Meritorious Unit Commendation. He was also a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown and AARP.
He was the husband of Marylee (Groft) Slagle, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage, and surviving, in addition to her, are three daughters: Susan Snyder of Hanover and Catherine Kelley and Diane Seibert, both of Pottstown; a son, Harry J. Slagle II of Flemington, NJ; three grandchildren: Colleen Kelley, Christopher Slagle, and Lindsey Slagle; three sisters: Sr. Adela Slagle, S.S.J., of Flourtown, Helen Heiser of McSherrystown, and Ethel Feeser of Hanover.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Mae (Renner) Slagle, who departed this life June 7, 1967, a brother, Earl Slagle, and by a sister, Geraldine Wildasin.
