Word has been received about the death of Edmund Ramser, about 80, a past resident of Rock Island. He died about 7 yesterday morning in Chicago, where he had resided for many years.
Funeral services will be at 11am tomorrow at the Carl Schlerf Mortuary, 2118 Lawrence Ave., Chicago, and burial will be in Chicago.
Mr. Ramser was born in Rock Island April 1, 1875, a son of the late Jacob and Eugenie Ramser. He attended Rock Island schools, where he was prominent in athletics. He married Catherine Fassnacht of Rock Island.
While a resident of Rock Island Mr. Ramser was employed at the post office. He retired from the Chicago post office about eight years ago.
The last of a family of 15, Mr. Ramser was preceded in death by his wife, nine brothers and five sisters.
Surviving are a son, Arthur, of Wayne, IL., a granddaughter and two great grandchildren. Among his many nieces and nephews surviving are Mrs. Ray E. Chaney, Mrs. Walter L. Hulstedt and Mrs. Emil A. Johnson, all of Rock Island.
