Capt. Harvey Goodwin was the son of Henry Goodwin and Rosanna Larkin.

He was married twice. First on 21 Jan. 1864 in Argyle, N.S. to Catherine Malone daughter of James and Olivia (Owens) Malone. Catherine died in childbirth.

He married 2nd Phoebe Jane Forbes on 10 Oct 1874 Wood's Harbour, N.S dau. of Alexander & Lavinia (Goodwin) Forbes.

Harvey and Catherine had the following children:

Grace Maude Goodwin (twin) 1866-
Adria Amelia Goodwin 1867 – 1867
Florence (Sophronia) R Goodwin 1870 – 1942
