Marta was born June 12, 1943 to Felipe and Escolastica Flores in Alamo, Texas where she received her education.
Marta married Leonardo Cantu Sr. on
April 6, 1961. They celebrated their 54th Wedding Anniversary this year.
Marta leaves behind five children:
Carmen Torres of Zillah, WA. Rosa Cantu Castro (Guadalupe Jr.) of Stanfield, OR. Esteban Cantu (Maris) of Moxee City, WA. Irene Cantu and Lionel Cantu both of Granger, WA.
She also leaves behind 17 Grandchildren and 24 Great-Grandchildren.
She also leaves behind five brothers and three sisters: Rodolfo (Socorro) Flores, Jesus (Elvia) Flores, Ismael (Gloria) Flores, Israel (Susana) Flores, Merced (Diana) Flores, Ofelia (David) Guerra, San Juanita (Valentin) Vela and Maria (Reynaldo) San Juan. All of Texas and Michigan.
Marta enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved shopping, the casino, going out to eat and especially dancing to Tejano Music. She loved her Tejano roots. She was also very passionate of working with children. She worked in Early Childhood Education for 40 years, 30 of those years were with Inspire Development Centers where she was an ECE Toddler Teacher.
Marta is preceded in death by her beloved son Leonardo Cantu Jr., her parents Felipe and Escolastica Flores. Three brothers Eduardo (Anita) Flores, Margarito (Pat) Flores, Aciano (Juanita) Flores and Son-in-Law Joe John Torres Jr.
Our Mom has gone to spend eternity with her loving son Leonardo Cantu Jr. whom she loved very much.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 6pm on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at Resurrection Catholic Church in Zillah. Burial will follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
