George Charles Lodel, Sr., age 76, of 151 Hoover St., Whitelaw, died Monday, December 7, 1992, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be at St. Mary Catholic Church, Brillion. Father William O’Brien will officiate with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
He was born March 31, 1916 in the town of Carlton, Kewaunee County, son of the late Joseph and Mary Valenta Lodel. He married Elnore Haselow September 25, 1940 in Manitowoc. He farmed at the Holy Family convent until 1959 when he moved to Brillion. He then worked at the Brillion Iron Works retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church Brillion.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Vivian and James Uhlers, Milwaukee, Darlene and James Shaw, Two Rivers, Ann and Eugene Jensen, Hilbert, five sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Joyce Lodel, Cato, Roger and Mary Ann Lodel, Manitowoc, George Jr., and Judy Lodel, New Berlin, Thomas and Joan Lodel, Manitowoc, Henry and Linda Lodel, Chilton; twenty-two grandchildren, one great grandchild, three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lillian and Bernard Funnel, Tisch Mills, Anna and Elmer Whitney, King, Rose Steinhorst, Denmark; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Caroline and Douglas Handley, Hammond, Ind.; special friend Bernice Pritzl, Reedsville; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife on February 22, 1978, also preceded in death by one daughter and two sons.
