Virgie Viola Hyatt Dawes, 91, of Chicota passed away Friday, April 24, 2009.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at Chicota Assembly of God with Mishayla Brewer and the Rev. Mickey Kelley officiating. Interment follows in Little John Cemetery. The family receives friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
She was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Grant, Okla., to Willie Elvin Hyatt and Maggie Annett Hyatt.
On Nov. 4, 1936, she married Frankie R. Dawes. Frankie was pastor of Midway Assembly of God Church for almost 50 years. She diligently served by his side.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frankie Dawes; her daughter, Louise Mitchell; granddaughter, Deborah Beshirs; four sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Woodrow Dawes and wife, Fauneil, of Arthur City, Jo Bill Dawes and wife, Judy, of Chicota; one daughter, Willie Jim Johnson of Chicota; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Woodrow Hyatt.
Named to serve as pallbearers are her grandsons Mike Freeman, Stanley Dawes, Shelby Dawes, Randy Freeman, great-grandsons; Brent Dawes and Brad Dawes.
