Mrs. Bill (Vina) L. Dawes of Chicota died Sunday at 7:15 a.m. in L. P. McCuistion Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Chicota Baptist Church with the Rev. Harvey Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Littlejohn Cemetery under the direction of Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dawes was born June 13, 1910 in Grant, Okla. She was the daughter of the late Will and Maggie Annett Hyatt.
She attended Grant and Chicota public schools.
On Aug. 28, 1928 she married Bill [William S.] Dawes, and they lived in Little Rock, Ark. for 33 years before moving back to Chicota in 1971.
Mrs. Dawes was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Dawes; two nieces; [obit says daughters; they had no children of their own, but raised the two nieces of Bill Dawes ; Mrs. Danny Smallwood of Chicota and Mrs. Debbie Beshirs of Bonham; three sisters, Mrs. Charlie Dawes and Mrs. Frankie Dawes, both of Chicota and Mrs. Wilson James of Hugo, Okla.; three brothers, Haskel Hyatt of Waterford, Calif., Woodrow Hyatt of Seattle, Wash. and Clarence Hyatt of Chicota; and two grandchildren [should be grandnieces.]
