ABBOTT, Florence "Bernice" - Age 88, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Foote Hospital in Jackson, MI. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at 2PM at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw, Grand Blanc, Pastor Scott Arnold presiding. Interment to follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9PM and on Wednesday from 1PM until the time of the service. An Eastern Star service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7PM. Bernice was born June 7, 1915 in Osgood, IN, to Boyd and Mabel (Bachman) Emrick. On June 1, 1941 she married Clark Abbott in Germantown, OH. He precedeased her on November 5, 1989. Bernice's passion was learning and education; she was always looking for something to improve herself. She taught school for 35 years many of them in the Grand Blanc area. She was a graduate of Coalton High School in Coalton, OH and Wayne State University. Family and faith were also very important to her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grand Blanc and a member of their choir, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #507 (Past Worthy Matron), she was also a member of MEA and NEA. She was a retired life member of the Grand Blanc Herrick Association and active in the American Baptist Organizational in Michigan. Bernice is survived by: 2 children, ..., ...; 4 grandchildren, ...; and daughter-in-law, .... She was predeceased by her husband; a son, Robert C. Abbott; and her parents, Boyd and Mabel Emrick.
