Erma N. (Dray) Watts, 83, of Council Bluffs died Oct. 20 at Indian Hills Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 17, 1920, in Missouri Valley to Albert L. and Eva Brundige Dray. She was a 1938 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. Post graduate course for Normal Training at Missouri Valley to receive her teaching certificate. She was a school teacher for 45 years, including 10 years at Crescent School and 29 years teaching Tri-Center kindergarten.
The rest of her teaching career was spent in rural Pottawattamie County. She was a 72-year member of First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for 37 years. She was also a member of Retired Teachers. She volunteered at Jennie Edmundson and mentored at Kreft and Hoover Schools.
Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, on April 25, 1961. They were married in May 1948. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elva Jenkins; and brother, Leroy.
Survivors include sisters, Ida Mae Henry and husband, Merrill, and Naomi Foster and husband, Earl, all of Council Bluffs; 21 nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Greg Krumbach officiating. Burial will be in Crescent Cemetery. Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
