Their first child, Richard, was born in Ireland 9/6/1848 and made the journey to America only to die 10/25/1853 in Lawrence. A daughter, Hannah, gifted with rare qualities of mind and character, was to become Sister Agnes Aloysia, Mother Superior of the Convent of Mount Notre Dame at Reading, Ohio. Another son,James, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, became an architect and practiced his profession in Los Angeles. Their last child, Charles Ambrose practiced law and rose to become a Judge of the Massachusetts Supreme Court. Their other children did not survive past the age of twelve.
