She was predeceased by parents, Stanley and Edna Beck; her husband, James Elton Sparks, sister, Mona Hanson, and brother, Thomas Beck; niece Sandra Beck and nephew, Billy Hanson and great nephew, Joe Beck.
Mrs. Sparks is survived by brother Stan Beck and wife, Louise and daughters, Anita Hecky and Diana Beck of Knoxville, TN. Surviving nieces and nephews include Dennis Beck and wife Tammy, Donnie Beck, Kathy Beck, Robert Beck, all of Little Rock, Bill Hanson and Becky Hanson Whitehead and husband, Chuck of San Antonio, Suzann Welty Barr and husband John, Connie Sparks Reinhardt, Dr. Bruce E. Schratz and wife, Georgia, and John C. Schratz and wife Kaye, all of Little Rock, and Larry Sparks and wife Peggy of Conway.
She will be especially missed by her great nephew and niece, Adam Beck and Kacy Beck and great great nephew Kody Beck, for whom she served as a surrogate grandmother. Additional survivors include great nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Sparks worked in bookkeeping and accounting for Georgetown Apartments and Coulson Oil Company.
Katherine Sparks was an active member of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church for over 45 years, and particularly enjoyed working with the church newsletter for the last 15 years. She was also an artist, working in oil painting and several types of fabric and needle work.
The family would like to thank Briarwood Nursing and Rehabilitation for the care provided to Katherine Sparks by their nursing personnel and Gentiva Hospice for comfort care.
Funeral Service will be held, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home.
Burial at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
