William was the son of Elbert and Minnie (Sloop) Andrews, who were married March 2, 1914, in Schuyler County, Missouri. At the time of the 1940 Census, Elbert and his two children were living in Glenwood, Missouri. Elbert was shown as widowed in that census; however, his death certificate stated he was divorced.

William Andrews

ELDON – William Leo Andrews, 67, of 207 Caster died at 1:10 p.m. Dec. 19 in Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines.

A former driver for Burlington Truck Lines, he was born Oct. 9, 1914, in Lancaster, Mo. to Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Andrews. He married Helen M. Howard Dec. 24, 1952, in Ottumwa.

Survivors: his wife; stepsons Arthur Howard of New London and Robert Howard of Eldon; a stepdaughter, Marjorie Keilkoph of Cedar Rapids; 17 stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Greene of Bloomfield.

Service: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Richard Qualls, Bethany Baptist Church, officiating. Burial: Shaul Cemetery, with military services by American Legion. Members of American Legion will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
