Lelia Myrtle (Cunningham) Shofner was born on October 16, 1867 in Arkansas, the daughter of John T Cunningham and Martha Jane (Campbell) Cunningham.

She was married about 1888 to Robert Newton Shofner (1865-1940), the son of Albert Jenkins Shofner (1829–1868) and Martha "Eran" (Landis) Shofner (1826–1869).

Living at 316 Boscobel Street, Nashville, Tennessee, she was 71 years old and married when she died at home of a coronary thrombosis on July 31, 1939. Burial was on August 1st in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
