Daughter of George Maledon. Met Frank Carver in Fort Smith, Ark. and began a brief affair. Anna followed him to Muskogee, Indian Territory and discovered he had an Indian wife. An argument ensued and Anna was shot on March 25, 1895. The wounded woman was brought back to Fort Smith to be with her family and died from complications from her wound on May 19, 1895. She was 25 years old. Carver was convicted of the murder but his sentence was overturned in a year after an appeal to the Supreme Court in Washington. Carver claimed the shooting was an accident, that he was very drunk at the time. Anna was shot in the back and the wound was grave enough in Muskogee for her to be given last rites. George Maledon was so upset about the reversal of the verdict to manslaughter that he moved from Fort Smith right away.
