PERRY, GA- Norma Gillilan Mayo, 94, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2015.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Perry. Interment will be held in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., the hour prior to the service, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Perry, 1105 Main Street, Perry, GA 31069.
Mrs. Mayo was born in Baker, Montana, to the late Curtis D. and Bertha Thompson Gillilan. A long time member of First Baptist Church of Perry, she was also a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and the Campers on Missions. She and her late husband were active for many years in the church through various mission groups and always enjoyed visiting the Baptist Children's Home.
Mrs. Mayo was the lead bookkeeper for Houston County Board of Education for over 20 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She lived many wonderful years and made precious memories spending time with her family, all of whom will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Thomas R. "Tommy" Mayo, Sr.; and her siblings, Roberta Corey, Loris Stanhope, Dean Gillilan, Queen Markworth, Ambyr Alldredge, Kenneth Gillilan, Jean Cearly, Phyllis Cearly, and Peggy Benzing.
Left to cherish the memories of Mrs. Mayo are her children, Thomas R. "Russ" Mayo, Jr. (Corinne), Stephen D. Mayo, and Diane M. Cadenhead (Barth); her grandchildren, Cheri Pulliam (Robert), Terrance Mayo (Mallery), Jennifer Dollar (Billy), Ryan Cadenhead (Caitlin), Jason Mayo (Angie), Katie Mayo, Sean Mayo (Christine), Nicholas Mayo (Win), Franklin Cadenhead (Jennifer), Brandi McCombs (Jamie), and Tessa Grundy (Jon); and 24 great-grandchildren.
Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
