George Earl Durbin Sr., 66, of Claysville, formerly of Greene County, died at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2003, in his home after a one-year battle with lung cancer.

He was born October 10, 1936, in Franklin Township, Greene County, a son of Charles F. and Goldie Pierson Durbin.

Mr. Durbin was Protestant. He worked for R.J. Johnson Construction Co., then worked as a maintenance worker for Holiday Inn and Ankrom Nursing Home.

Mr. Durbin was a selfemployed contractor.

He enjoyed gospel music, fishing, hunting, and playing guitar.

On November 19, 1994, he married Rose Orndoff, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Joyce Hicks of Durham, N.C., Brenda Blouir of Holbrook and Loretta Cook of Rogersville; a son, George E. Durbin Jr. of Waynesburg; a stepson, William Kuhn of Marianna; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Betty Robinson of Washington and Mary Davis of Cleveland, Ohio; five brothers, Leroy Durbin of Lagonda, Harold and David Ray Durbin, both of Washington, Howard Durbin of Prosperity and Lloyd Durbin of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, Charles E. and William Durbin; and a half sister, Anna Haring.

Friends of George Earl Durbin Sr. of Claysville, formerly of Greene County, who died Saturday, June 7, 2003, will be received from noon to 4 p.m., the time of services, Tuesday, June 10, in West Union Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dave R. Martin officiating.

Burial will be in West Union Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg.
