Gregory S. Wallander, age 54, of 1114 S. 22nd St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly of a heart attack, on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at his residence.

Greg was born to Lloyd and Pauline (Tadych) Wallander on April 1, 1956, in Manitowoc. He was a graduate of Valders High School with the class of 1975. On Oct. 16, 1998, he married Cathy Hilke in Manitowoc. Greg was employed throughout Manitowoc with various local businesses. He was a proud member of the Local Teamsters Union.

Survivors include his wife: Cathy Wallander, Manitowoc; three sons: Nicholas Wallander, Green Bay, Brett Wallander, Manitowoc, and Nathan Wallander, Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law: Tiffany and Josh DeWall, Neenah; his parents: Lloyd and Pauline (Tadych) Wallander, Manitowoc; one brother: Joseph Wallander, Green Bay; two sisters and three brothers-in-law: Paula and Ralph Sukowaty, Manitowoc, Teresa and Eric Walsdorf, Manitowoc, and Dale Frank, Valders; three grandchildren: Dayton, Hannah, and Addison DeWall, Neenah; mother-in-law: Georgiana Hilke, Manitowoc; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; Cindi and Kenny Ketz, Detroit, Mich., Cheryl Kelm, Cudahy, Connie Pagels, Manitowoc. Greg is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, especially his pet golden retrievers: Abby and Sabrina. He was preceded in death by one brother: Nicholas Wallander; one sister: Mary (Wallander) Frank; paternal grandparents: Clarence and Beatrice Wallander; maternal grandparents: Stanley and Rose Tadych; Godmother: Mary Schmelzle; a stepdaughter: Megan Hilke; and his father-in-law: Lester Hilke.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton.

Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, until 10:45 a.m.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home and All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

He was an avid Packer fan, loved grilling out, enjoyed spending time by the campfire with his two dogs. He especially loved taking car rides on Sunday afternoons. Greg always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
