PVT. JESSE ECTOR enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 3, 1913, and he was a respected member of Company H, 25th Infantry.

The news of the brutal and murderous death of PVT. JESSE ECTOR, and the military inquiry surrounding it, was reported and boldly featured on Saturday, January 29, 1916 in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. (The article was printed on Page 2 in the 3:30 Edition of the 24-page newspaper of Honolulu in the Territory of Hawaii).

"Dead Soldier Returned ---
The body of Jesse Ector, Negro, son of Isom Ector and wife of Marshall, arrived Tuesday from Honolulu. Jesse was 27 years of age. ... The government sent the body to Marshall on request of the parents, and the funeral was held Tuesday."

The unfortunate circumstances of both of Isom Ector's sons, Albert and Jesse, were reported in this same edition of the local newspaper.
