Mrs. Mildred S. Carver, 72, R.R. 1, Gaston, was pronounced dead on arrival at Ball Memorial Hospital after becoming ill at home. She was born near Alexandria and moved to the Gaston area with her husband, Everett, in 1938. She and Mr. Carver had been married for 52 years.

Mrs. Carver was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church near Alexandria and Harrison Township Home Advancement Club.

Survivors besides her husband include one daughter, Mrs. Melvin Smith, Yorktown; two sons, Ben E., Gaston, and Maurice B., Muncie; one brother, Joseph Hughes, Anderson; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Richman Funeral Home in Gaston. Rev. Lloyd Hall, pastor of Epworth United Methodist Church, will officiate with interment in IOOF Cemetery, Alexandria. The family will receive callers at the funeral home Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and prior to services Thursday.
