Manitowoc - Joseph P. Ledvina, 69, former clerk of court of Manitowoc
County, died Wednesday at Alexian Brothers Home, Oshkosh, where he had
resided since 1941.
Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Saur Funeral Home,
Kellnersville, and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in the
village. The Rev. Frank Svatek will officiate and burial will be in the
church cemetery. A squad of the Drews-Bleser American Legion Post,
Manitowoc, will provide military rites at graveside.
Mr. Ledvina was born Sept. 16, 1887, at Kellnersville, son of the
late Lawrence and Catharine Reif Ledvina. He attended Manitowoc
Business College and then served several years as deputy register
of deeds under Charles Streich.
In 1914 he was elected clerk of court and re-elected in 1916. He
resigned in 1917 to enlist with his brother, the late Atty. Lawrence
Ledvina, in the United States Navy where he served until the end of
World War I. After his war service he was employed in the real estate
department of the East Wisconsin Trustee Co. for several years, later
engaging in business for himself as an abstractor and real estate
broker. In 1928, ill health forced him to retire. Mr. Ledvina lived
with his mother at Kellnersville until her death in 1941, and since
that time made his home at the Alexian Brothers Home.
He was a member of the Manitowoc Council Knights of Columbus, the
Drews-Bleser Legion Post and the Manitowoc Elks Club.
Surviving him are four sisters, and three brothers.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday where
the Rosary will be recited by Father Svatek, members of St. Joseph
CManitowoc Herald Times Reporterhurch and the Manitowoc Knights of Columbus at 8 p.m. Friday.
