Koosharem, Utah – On September 15, 2015 our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend Nancy Elizabeth Barnes Brindley departed from our presence and entered into the loving embrace of her parents, her sister, and many other loved ones. We imagine this to have been a beautiful reunion.

Nancy was born on April 18, 1939 in Long Beach, CA, a daughter of Charles Douglas and Luella Strong Barnes. She attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School, and graduated with the class of 1957. She went on to Brigham Young University where she graduated in 1961 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education. She married M. Wayne Brindley on September 4, 1962 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.

Nancy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she spent much of her time serving others. She spent twelve of her final years as an ordinance worker in the Manti LDS Temple. She had many opportunities to love and serve others in her church and community including service in the Young Women’s organization, Relief Society, Cub Scouts, and meals on wheels. She loved to sing and play the violin and was a passionate soccer mom. She was an elementary school teacher for several years before becoming a homemaker and full-time mom to five rambunctious kids. She grew up in Long Beach and loved the beach and ocean. With her husband and kids, she spent most of her vacations exploring the beaches of Baja, CA and officially graduated from being a sissy-wimp to a mugwump.

Nancy loved to read and garden. She was caring and loving and rarely forgot a birthday or special occasion. Her capacity to love and ability to nurture were exemplary. She always had a smile and a kind word for anyone. She was a positive person who was rarely sad. Her loving influence and cheerful spirit will be missed by all.

She is survived by her husband Wayne Brindley of Koosharem; her sons: Bryan and Kirsten Brindley of St. Cloud, Minnesota; Brent and Joy Brindley of St. George; Bowen Brindley of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Benn and Amy Brindley of Salt Lake City; her daughter Melissa and Bryan Ward of Salt Lake City; her brother Dean and LaNore Barnes of Farmington; her sister Phyllis Booth of Chicago, Illinois; 17 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her sister Helen McEldowney
.
