TABLE ROCK ARGUS, February 18, 1937. (pg.8)

Word was received here Wednesday morning of the death of Mrs. J. C. Wood at her home at Corpus Christi, Texas. The body will be sent to Table Rock and will arrive here Saturday afternoon and short funeral services will be held at the cemetery immediately. She was a pioneer resident of Table Rock.

OBITUARY-

Mary Louise Heywood was born September 22, 1851 at Troy, Ohio and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edith White at Corpus Christi, Texas on Tuesday, February 16, 1937 at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 24 days.

She came to Table Rock with her brother, A. E. Heywood in the spring of 1856 and on April 27, 1870, she was united in marriage to Mr. John C. Wood. To this union were born six children, Nellie, Edgar, Myron, Kathleen, Ernest and Edith. Nellie died in infancy, Ernest when he was four years of age, and Kathleen on October 3, 1901.

She is survived by two sons, Edgar of Corpus Christi, seven grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends.

She became a member of the M. E. Church in Table Rock in early life and remained true to her faith until the end.

Her husband, John C. Wood preceded her in death in 1912. After moving to Corpus Christi, she made her home with her son, Edgar for twenty years and the remaining years of her life she lived with her daughter Edith. She was patient uncomplaining until the end.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church in Corpus Christi, Texas on Thursday, February 18 and the body brought to Table Rock arriving on Saturday, where short services were held at the Kovanda Chapel, after which burial was made on the family lot in the Table Rock cemetery.

Her son Myron accompanied the body to Table Rock, and other out-of-town relatives present for the service were Mrs. Myron Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wood and daughter, Beverly of Lincoln.
