Death of a Colored Woman at Nashville, Aged 118 Years.

Associated Press Dispatch.

NASHVILLE, Tenn., December 2. -

Probably the oldest person in the state died in Nashville last night. Old "Aunty Jane" Collins, a colored woman, passed away at her home on South Summer street, near the old cemetery, at the advanced age of 118 years. "Aunt Jane," as she was called, was a servant of Gen. Jackson. She belonged before the war to Mr. James Collins, of Marshall county.

During the greater part of the past five years, she lived at the house of Mr. Robert Guthries, of Bentworth. That gentleman, who is here to make arrangements for the funeral, says that there is no doubt about Aunt Jane's age, and that she would have been 119 years old on her next birthday. Until a month ago, she was quite spry and in full possession of her faculties. She was ever sick until very recently. She came to Nashville about two months ago. The remains will be buried on the Rucker place, on the Granny White turnpike.
