Mr. Jesse Lee Yates, age 85 of Buncombe, died at 8:55 am, Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Marion. He was born on April 17, 1930 in Water Valley, the son of Samuel Frank and Mae Highland Yates. He married Jane Anderson on January 12, 1951 in Cobden, and together they shared sixty-four years of marriage. Jesse is survived by his wife, Jane Yates of Buncombe; three sons, Thomas L. Yates of Cobden, Ronald D. Yates and Dennis S. Yates, both of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank “Junior” Yates of Carbondale; one sister, Martha Dale of St. Louis; his beloved dog, Otis; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Gene Yates, John Yates, Jack Yates and Joe Yates; two sisters, Alene Casper and Margaret Kelly. Jesse proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a life-long farmer and was retired from Olin Corporation. Funeral services for Mr. Jesse Lee Yates will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 3, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with the Rev. Darryl Williams officiating. Intermentwill be in the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. of Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard Military Honors Team of Marion. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Friday October 2, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to VA Hospice.
