CARBONDALE -- Aileene Casper, 87, of Carbondale, passed away at 9:25 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2002 at Carbondale Nursing and Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2002 at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale with Rev. Wes Henson officiating. Interment will be held at Ebenezer Hall Cemetery, Buncombe, Ill. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today, Sunday, July 14, 2002 at the funeral home.
Aileene was born June 14, 1915 in Cobden to Samuel Frank and Mae (Highland) Yates. She married Van Kermit Casper on March 28, 1942 at Cape Girardeau, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1986. She is also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include three brothers, Gene Yates of Elkville, Frank Yates of Carbondale and Jesse Lee Yates of Buncombe; one sister, Martha Dale of Pacific, Mo.; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Aileene was a member of the Lantana Baptist Church, Carbondale. She worked at the Good Luck Glove Factory for many years. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and she raised canaries.
