Alexandria Jones - this obituary was transcribed from an old family letter belonging to Carol Fisher Briggs and given to Sue Chenoweth.

Alex Jones an old resident of Nashua died at the home of his son Jacob Sunday January 11, 1903 after a long illness in the 81st year of his life. He was born in Canada but moved to Illinois with his parents in 1842. He was married to Sarah Ann Harvey and in 1849 moved to Minnesota then Iowa. Eleven children were born to them, three of these along with the mother having passed on before him, eight children and one brother are left to mourn his departure. Mrs. Elizabeth O'Dell, Staples Minnesota, Mrs Martha Ku??, Mrs Lourinda Coates, Mrs Mary Downing, Mrs Hannah Springer Wisconsin, Jake and Mrs Lisa Barlow. All of whom were at his bedside (except the first named) when he passed away. He was a veteran of the Civil War having enlisted in 1862 as a member of Co G 27th Iowa volunteer inf. In 1878 he joined the United Brethren Church. Funeral was held at home and at the Tadd (later called Maple Grove) school house under the auspice Geo W. S Dodg Past G.A.R. Rev. Dodd of Charles City was the minister with burial in Beck Cemetery. Later moved to Greenwood Cemetery at Nashua Iowa.
