Novak, Evelyn (Ma)

Evelyn (Ma) Novak, age 100, a resident of Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, died early Monday morning, September 28, 2015 at Rivers Bend Health.

She was born on December 26, 1914 in the town of Franklin, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Gerl) Denor. Prior to her marriage Evelyn was employed at Globe Laundry, Manitowoc. On July 26, 1947 she married Ervin R. Novak at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2005. She and Ervin owned and operated Chermak Meats in Manitowoc for 18 years, retiring in 1983. Evelyn and Ervin volunteered many hours of service at the Manitowoc Chief's Clubhouse on Friday night fish fries. She took pride in the fact that she cared for Ervin at home for seven years after he had a stroke.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Terry and Cindy Novak and Rick and Ginger Novak, all of Manitowoc; two grandsons: Randy and Brenda Novak, Two Rivers, and Chris and Jessie Novak, Manitowoc; two step grandchildren: Roxanne and David Gollata, Appleton, and Michael and Tammy Reimer, Whitelaw; eight step great grandchildren: Damien, McKayla, Skylar, Amber, Bryce, Abi, Jaime and McCoy; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Agnes Arndt, Kiel, Theresa and Robert Arndt, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law: Florence Denor, Brillion, Judy Denor, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Evelyn was also preceded in death by an infant son: Joseph; three infant brothers; four brothers and two sisters-in-law: Joseph and Alice Denor, Leo and Gwendolyn Denor, Wilbert Denor, Leonard Denor; four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Mary and Elmer Reif, Ann and Clement Roland, Eleanore and George Danay and Irene Denor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday October 1, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall (1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc). Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with entombment to follow at Calvary Chapel Mausoleum.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall ( 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc).

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mark Herring and the staff of River's Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care and support given to Evelyn and her family.
