Nick Samaras of Stuart, Florida died peacefully on Wednesday, March 26th, 2014.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 1, 1924.

In his early years, Nick was a sea scout, and during WWII, he served as a Merchant Marine on a Liberty Ship as ship's navigator.

He graduated from Kings Point Academy in 1945 and also received an electrical engineering degree from the University of Illinois.

Nick's career was in electronics. He was president of Triwec Transformer Company and then CFO of Temple Steel.

Later, Nick was president of Lenco Electronics (McHenry,Il.) and co-owner with his partner Leonard Duncan.

Following his retirement and death of his beloved wife Mary (45 years), Nick moved to Stuart,Fl. where he met and married Norma (Pike) Sweeney. Nick and Norma had fifteen happy and full years together. He served as Commodore of the Stuart Yacht and Country Club where they were very active sailors,bridge players, and golfers.

Nick is survived by three children: Kathryn Cargill (Gregory), Jeffrey Samaras ( Lori), and Nancy Voelker (David), as well as six grandchildren: Peter, Matthew, Zachary, Corine, Lucas, and Natalie, and his wonderful dog Oppy.

Graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Road, Skokie Il. , 60076, on May 31, 2014, at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Treasure Coast Hospice 1201 SE Indian Street Stuart, FL. 34997 TCHospice.org or a charity of choice.
