Nancy A. Smith, 73, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kimball with Pastor Kenneth Mars officiating. Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Kimball County Manor or St. John's Lutheran Church. The services for Nancy have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Nancy Ann Smith was born in Schuyler, Nebraska, on Jan. 7, 1942, the daughter of Louis and Edna (Bohac) Wurdeman. She was baptized at Shell Creek Lutheran Church in Columbus, Nebraska, on May 31, 1942. She moved with her family to Dix. Nancy was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kimball on March 25, 1952. She graduated from the Dix High School in 1959.

Nancy was married to Morgan Smith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kimball on Dec. 13, 1959. They lived in Dix and Kimball their entire lives except for a short time when they lived in Gordon, Rushville and Harrison.

Nancy worked at the Kimball County Manor. She later owned ACE Answering Service and answered phones for many local businesses. She went back to work for the Manor and also helped Morgan with his casing company. She retired in 2011. Nancy loved knitting, gardening and growing roses, canning and the joy of her life was spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Morgan Smith of Kimball; sons Scott (Laurie) Smith of Kimball, and Troy (Janelle) Smith of Whitman, Nebraska; daughter Lettie (Richard) Bruckner of Parker, Colorado; step-son Tom Smith of Sturgis, South Dakota; brother Larry (Charla) Wurdeman of Kingman, Arizona; sister Janice (Jack) Daugherty of Hyannis; grandchildren Lynelle (Joel) Foster, Daniel Smith, Megan Smith, Shawn Smith, who is stationed in Germany, Chase Bruckner, Paige Bruckner; great-grandchild Jace Foster; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-son Rusty Smith, brothers Max and Roy Wurdeman, sisters Linda Seeman, Donna Schindler and Barbara Wurdeman.
