Helen Adams of Melber was born near Melber on July 19, 1920. She passed from this life on October 12, 2015 at Vanderbilt University Hospital at the age of 95, due to a motor vehicle accident. It occurred near her front lawn she had so carefully mowed just shortly before her death. Mowing her lawn, and the lawn of other family members was what she considered her job, and her way of relaxing.

Helen was born to Barnett and Adelle Carney Mullican at their home near Melber, and she never lived more than a few miles from the only town she called home. In 1940, she married Aaron (AC) Adams, a Melber farmer, and they tended their beloved land on the County Line Road west of Melber for 68 years. Aaron and Helen would tell everyone with great pride that they never held a job other than farming their land. Aaron died in May, 2008, and Helen continued to manage the day to day events to the day of her death, but rented the row crop land to the Hays family who tended it to suit her perfectly.

Helen and Aaron were faithful members of the Melber Church of Christ, and everyone knew her seat was on the right side of the second pew, on the right side of the building.

She is survived by two sons, James (Linda) Adams and Jerry (Jenny) Adams of Melber, and a special niece she thought of as a daughter, Joann Mullican Pucciarelli. She was so proud of her grandsons, James (Rob) Robert (Jenny) Adams, Mark (Diane) Adams, and Luke (Sarah) Adams, all of Melber, and Josh (Brittany) Pride of Orlando and granddaughters, Amy (Benny) Stubblefield, Murray, Kentucky, and Brittney Pride Grant of Danville, California. She also had ten great grandchildren, Jordan Ray, Chet Adams, Evan Burnett, Kelsy (Ben) Robertson, Caleb Adams, Aaron Adams, Cole Adams, Corban Adams, Eden Adams, Carter Adams, Nathan Grant, Hagen Grant, Presley Pride, and Aniston Pride, as well as two great great grandchildren, Addy and Case Robertson. She is also survived by a dear friend, David Borntreger, several Carney and Mullican cousins, as well as nieces and nephews.

In addition to Aaron and her parents, Helen was preceded in death by two brothers, J. L. Mullican and Terrell B (Rip) Mullican.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11am at the Melber Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Kansas Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr on Thursday, October 15, from 5:00 until 8:00 and after 10am Friday at the church.

Grandsons and David Borntreger will serve as pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers will be Truman Hays, D. R. Barks, Dan Gunter, David Smith and Dave Taylor.

Contributions may be made to Melber Church of Christ, 11602 KY 339, Melber, KY, 42069 or New Pathways for Children, 3311 Shaw Road, Melber, KY 42069.
