MINEVILLE, N.Y. - Robert "Redbone" "Rob" L. Allen of Mineville, died peacefully in his sleep at the Essex Center Nursing Home in Elizabethtown, N.Y. on Thursday, January 28th 2016.
He was born in Crown Point, N.Y. on December 25th 1922, the son of George and Basheba Allen.
Rob was a graduate of Mineville High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He then returned to Mineville and worked for Republic Steel until they closed and then continued his working career at Frontier Town, Horace Nye Nursing Home and finally retiring from International Paper Company.
Rob was predeceased in 1986 by his loving wife of 40 years Emily "Molly" M. Allen.
They had enjoyed many, many good times with family and friends with Rob playing his guitar, harmonica, and mandolin and calling square dances at the many house and garage parties that family and friends enjoyed throughout the years.
He was also predeceased by his brothers: Ernest, Chester, Wesley (Viola), Frederick (Shirley) and Sherman (Sylvia) Allen and his sisters Cora (Roy) Pecor, Winefred (John) Podmore and Edith (Leonard) Brace.
Through all of his working years, Rob was an active member of the local VFW and was a dedicated volunteer fireman with the Minevillle-Witherbee Fire Department and; at one time, early in the Department’s operation, maintained the “fire phone” in his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place at the Church of All Saints in Mineville, New York on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:00 A.M.
