Ms. Peggy Jean Ammons, 70, of 9205 N.C. Hwy. 71, Red Springs, NC. died Sunday.

Ms. Ammons, born in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late William D. "W.D." Ammons and Mildred Simmons Ammons and the widow of Kenneth Bates. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by siblings; Carthenia Brewington, Pearly Brewington, Mose Ammons, Magaline Jacobs, Sudie Emmanuel, Gearldiane Brewington, Hubert Ammons, Bethel Ammons, Dorothy Vinson, Mary Jacobs, and Barney Ammons, and step-son, Roy A Locklear.

She was a caregiver in the mental health field and served the Lord by serving others.

She is survived by a brother, Rev Wilbert Ammons, a sister, Lula Ammons Maynor and husband Roy of Hope Mills, NC; two step-sons, Kenny Locklear of CA; and James Locklear of Robeson County, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family received friends one hour prior to services at the church.

The funeral services were held at 3pm, Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Holly Grove Holiness Church with the Rev. Dr. Randy Simmons and Elder Michael Jacobs officiating.

Burial was made in the Church Cemetery.
