Rev. Bishop Wilbert Lee Ammons, 95, of 1630 Indiantown Road, Clinton, NC. died Friday, May 11th at Lower Cape Fear Valley Hospice in Whiteville, NC.

Bishop Ammons, born in Sampson County, NC; was the son of the late William D. Ammons and Mildred Simmons Ammons and
the widower of Alice Leigh M. Ammons, married Aug. 1, 1944. He was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Ammons.

Bishop Ammons served as pastor for over 30 years at Mt. Sinai Holiness Church in Buck Head and was a long time member of the VFW, American Legion and was the present Chief of the Coharie Indian Tribe. He also retired from Lundy's Packing Company and was a World War II Veteran serving proudly in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his children, JoAnn Simmons of Clinton; Joe Ammons of Charlotte; Gladys Lynch of Clinton; sister, Lula Maynor; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.

The family received friends 6-8 PM, Monday, May 14, 2018 at Holly Grove Holiness Church, 1519 Indiantown Road, Clinton, NC.

The funeral services with Military Honors was held at 3 PM, Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Mount Sinai Holiness Church, 6690 Old Lake Road, Bolton, NC. with Rev. Mike Jacobs and Rev. Dr. Randy Simmons officiating.

Entombment was made in Grandview Memorial Park, Clinton, NC.
