Daughter of Jacob Levy Florance and his wife Hannah Levy, granddaughter of Zachariah Florance of Charleston, SC, and New Orleans, LA. Blanche grew up in her wealthy father's home in Philadelphia. She was the second wife of Washington (Charles) Carroll Tevis, who she eloped with in November 1860, against her father's wishes. As a result, she was disinherited. However, her father left her an inheritance after all upon his death in 1867. Blanche and her husband grew apart, due to his many military adventures and her coming into her inheritance. On 12 January 1885 in Philadelphia, Blanche and Tevis divorced amicably. She was noted as a gracious and beautiful lady, cultivated, and having a "spotless reputation." She moved with her only daughter to Paris, France, where Tevis also lived. Daughter Marie-Adele Florance "Flora" Tevis married an officer in the French cavalry, named Henri Etienne Esperance Gouget de Landres on 1 April 1888 in Paris. Blanche died at 2 am on 28 June 1924 at her home at 12 Rue Boileau, Paris, France.
